Residence Inn by Marriott Sandestin at Grand Boulevard

Lots of potential as the renovations are cosmetically pleasing and modern. However rooms are being renovated while the hotel is open and they are super annoying. Grinding and banging sounds for hours and hours on end during the day. When we booked this room months ago we called and were told all renovations were going to be completed by the time we arrived. Upon our arrival the concierge denied that had happened and seemed to accuse us of lying. We chose to stick it out as we were given a newly renovated room by this concierge. Cosmetically the rooms are beautiful but everything is nearly 1:1 functionally meaning it’s a new look but chairs and sofa and TVs and the layout are in the exact same place and amenities identical but only updated cosmetically. The electrical outlets and switches still look like they are from the 80s however so it’s not exactly a complete makeover. The bathroom also appears to be unchanged from its previous look other than a coat of paint. We love the location and parking was easy but the negatives were a major bummer. They reopened their free breakfast area and the lobby without making any announcement to guests on their “Breakfast temporarily in room 115” sign which is still sitting outside the elevators misdirecting guests as I’m writing this review. The breakfast is delicious and has so many options! Wow! Wish it had been open for most of my stay as the temp location had no room for anything and was sub-par. So another plus.

I suggest you avoid this hotel...it should have been completely closed during the renovation. The rooms open need work, carpet torn, bathtub doesn't drain so you end up standing in water while taking a shower. Service was not great either...I called for shampoo and towels but I had to call back later that day because no one came. As a Marriott Gold Elite I was very disappointed that Marriott did not reach out to make me aware of the construction. There are construction workers walking all around, taking up parking spots, etc. Just stay at the Courtyard down the road...I wish I had moved.

This hotel is under renovation and it took me an hour to find my room. The design is extremely outdated, elevators are located very far from the entrances. The elevators are creeky and look dangerous. The room itself smells like its reeking, and the sheets had hair on it and black particles were found on pillow as well, I am very disgusted by the lack of cleanliness. Please do not stay here if you have the option to stay somewhere else. This place is dirty and they need a deep clean.

🚨 Under SERIOUS Renovation, It would have been nice to have been notified PRIOR to arrival. This place should be SHUT DOWN UNTIL COMPLETE! Large Rolls of carpet and paint cans in hallways. Breakfast served in a small guest room with extremely poor choices. We asked for a financial concession due to all the MESS...we were told no. Carts are left out in the rain at the "new" front office which is a small makeshift office. Honestly we were VERY disappointed and should have been given atleast a DEEP discount.
